The bridal party usually pays for the bride, you are correct. I would send out the message again and at least pay your portion, that way you're doing your part. You are in the right, I don't know why they would put together an event that they can't or don't want to pay for as hostesses, remind them that if they are hosting, they are paying!The bride should definitely not pay. The bridesmaids should. So I think what you did was proper. I would email them all again and ask for them to respond. If they are going, I don't think any would have an objection to $8.00 more.
