It will only take about a half an hour. there is absolutely nothing that you want to see in hammond unless you like to gamble and then there is the new horseshoe casino which is very nice. also, there is a nice outlet mall in michigan city, in, which is about 35 minutes east of hammond. if you have the time, i would spend as much as possible in chicago.
