A popular method of installing a sliding wardrobe entry is a pocket door, in which the moving panel is designed to disappear into an extraneous wall compartment. Utility rooms, dens, toilets, bathrooms, study rooms and other rooms with bypass doors often use pocket doors. They provide floor space more than conventional closet entries that open forward. The same space-saving principle applies, in fact, to Japanese shoji screen doors wherein a latticed screen frame holds one sliding panel, usually made with a white paper.
